Dr. Ruedi Aebersold, one of the pioneers in the field of proteomics, is known for developing a series of methods that have found wide application in analytical protein chemistry and proteomics. Most recently, his group developed a method for the rapid identification and accurate quantification of cellular proteins, i.e. for the generation of cellular "protein profiles";. The method is based on a new class of reagents termed Isotope Coded Affinity Tags or ICAT reagents, and mass spectrometry.

Dr. Jeff Ranish joined the ISB faculty in 2005. He has a strong background in the disciplines of proteomics, molecular biology and biochemistry. He has a longstanding interest in understanding how protein’s function in the context of biological systems. Dr. Ranish pursues this goal by developing and applying state of the art proteomics technologies to probe the composition of macromolecular complexes, with a focus on transcriptional regulatory complexes.
